International Cringe Festival '10 Kicks Off July 19
NY Artists Unlimited presents the sixth annual International Cringe Festival, a smorgasbord of “brilliant and hilarious works that are irreverent, politically incorrect, politically satirical, naughty, and utterly zany.”
Tony Spinosa (resident director of the current revival of “La Cage Aux Folles” on Broadway) serves as supervising director.
The festival, which begins July 19 and runs through Aug. 8, consists of two-hour performances of several short plays or musicals grouped together by rotating nightly themes, such as “Sex Encounters of a Disturbed Mind,” and “Psycho Bitch Party.”
The July 23 performance includes the annual presentation of the Honorary Golden Pineapple Awards, with Back Stage’s own editor-at-large, Sherry Eaker, among the recipients.
Shows run 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; 5 p.m, 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Saturday; and 4 p.m. and 7 p.m Sunday. Prices vary. For more information, call (212) 242-6036 or visit www.NYartists.org.
